7th grade Prepare for Fitness Grams

As we will be beginning FitnessGram testing upon return from the break, I thought I would share these numbers just out from the CDC (Center for Disease Control):
-45% of overweight children live in poverty
-6.5 million children live in food deserts (more than one mile from a grocery)
-Only 6 states require PE from K-12 (IL, HI, MA, MS, NY, VT)
-Only 1 in 3 children are physically active every day
-Only 1 in 2 high school students have any PE classes at all
National recommendations say children should get 60 minutes of vigorous play or exercise everyday with at least 30 minutes of that happening at school ... so TRMS is doing very well!
